MEET REBECCA JONES

Owner & Creative Director

With a huge passion for interiors, it is with great pleasure to now be taking Central Living in to it's new era.

I have a background in interiors, photography, graphic design and jewellery design, and I love to pull all of my experiences in the design industry together. Sourcing designs that are beautifully crafted and considered is always joyful. Then pulling those designs together to create beautiful spaces is what I love the most.

Our homes are special places, a place to relax, enjoy with friends and family, to express ourselves, to make memories and to display precious pieces. Our homes should reflect our personalities, grow with us, and items should be treasured, loved, used and passed down the generations.

They should also be practical, your home should flow from room to room, with a purpose for each space and every object, whether to be used or treasured. Texture, colour, light, proportion and balance are all considerations when creating a harmonious space.

Here at Central Living we pride ourselves in sourcing the very best in furniture, lighting and accessories. Where craftsmanship, quality, originality and sustainability are key to our brands ethos.

Tell us a little about the background of your company and how it was established?

Central Living opened in 1997 by my father Geoff Taylor, with the idea to bring great design to Oxford. It quickly became established as the go to shop for design-led interiors, bringing our customers the very best in iconic and contemporary furniture, lighting and home accessories. As an independent family business, we prioritise beautiful design and craftsmanship with exceptional customer service. We have curated a selection of furniture, lighting and accessories from some of Europe's top designers and brands, including Knoll, Ligne Roset, Gubi, Hay, SCP, String, Flos, Case, USM and Ethnicraft to name just a few.

What can clients expect when they engage with Central Living to furnish their home?

When working with Central Living, our clients can always expect exceptional customer service. Our hands-on approach guides you through the entire furniture buying process, with access to a wide variety of top brands, we help you find the perfect pieces for your home. We also like to think we do things a little differently here at Central Living as we also offer an interior design service that compliments our shop beautifully, as clients not only experience our advice when making a purchase for their home, but if clients would like to take that service one step further we offer a range of interior packages, from simple floor plans and mood boards to full interior design services.

Which part of your job gives you the most satisfaction?

Sourcing furniture and accessories from some of the world’s best designers is always exciting. There is real beauty, heritage and craftsmanship in the designs we offer. For us this is true sustainability where items are beautifully designed and made, then cherished for years to come and passed through the generations. Offering these designs together with our skills to create beautiful homes couldn’t be more satisfying.

Why should people appoint an interior designer instead of managing their own project?

Working with an interior designer can be very exciting, not only do we take the stress out of all the decision making, we help you create your dream home by bringing fresh ideas on how to use and create your space. Hiring a professional designer may seem extravagant or expensive, but our goal is to dispel this misconception, as it can save you time and money in the long run by avoiding costly mistakes and utilising our trained eye. Clients sometimes worry that appointing a designer means they may lose their identity in their own home. Here at Central Living our designers listen to your needs, ensuring you are involved in the design process, we tap into your taste and combine it with our expertise and ideas, to create a harmonious beautifully designed home that truly feels like you.
